The Ship Called Planet Earth Is Going Down
A long time ago, some 150 years or so back in time, my grand-mother and her family lived on the Island of Skye in Scotland. It is not such a great place but it was their home and they loved it. Then came the British who saw it as a place to breed their sheep. In capturing and taking possession of it, this little island, they killed all the clan chiefs, most of the men, and they rounded up the women and put them in long houses until they were shipped out to the colonies, such as Canada and Australia . My family has never really recovered from that horrendous event.
In Australia the same British took possession of this land for the English crown, much to the horror of the Australian aboriginals who have lived here for some 60,000 years. When they (English) sent out their contacts to inhabit and the land and built it into the nation it has become today the first Australians were pushed out, murdered, and despised. The convicts, however, many of what were the faults of nothing more than stealing a loaf of bread, multiplied and their offspring are now the ones who have prospered.
The aboriginals, however, are rightly still upset as they were denied any rights, were treated as slaves, and could not vote or own property. Their children were snatched from them and reared in white people's homes where mostly they were domestic servants. That situation was well well into the 1970's.
Children were encouraged to forget their culture and language, their names were changed, and many were told their mothers had died. Some were sent to orphanages where they were sexually abused as well as enslaved to carry out the chores of the laundries and kitchens.
Australians have no respect for class distinctions or even for the titles that the monarch awarded some prominent people. What most of us do respect is equality and the right of all those who are maligned, discriminated against, and bullied into what the governments or religions expect them to be. We are a laid-back mob and have welcomed many to our shores who have faced hardship, displacement, or are fleeing terror and wars.
Now, like the rest of the world, we have people here who want to do us harm. They come with prejudices and religious indoctrination that are against the Australian spirit and there is resentment and in some cases hate being expressed against them. So what is the answer?
It appears that just about everyone has a story like this to tell. People have faught to escape from the evil of the past and now must fight again to escape the evil of the present. Meanwhile with globalization and the effects of climate change we are in the same ship and it is sinking fast.
Looking back over the many circumstances that have shaped the world today one sees that there is nothing but intense confusion and a huge wall of deceit that is growing stronger by the day. Power and money are the goals of most who have had a hand in this. But behind it all is the Spirit, which I know is in control and is bringing the world as we know it to an end. There is nothing much anyone can do, as we see from the way man's behavior has brought it about.
