2. Article writing - Submitting articles to article directories is a great long term method. If you write good quality articles with good information, people will want to visit your site and see what you have to offer. You have to be interested in the product and know what you are talking about, for best results. There are lots of best practices involved, which can be learned by reading the information areas of the article directory.
3. Blogging - answering questions on forums and posting comments on blogs works well if you post genuine content and don't just push your product.
One method which isn't completely free, but works great is to pay the owner of a popular YouTube video to put your link in their description box. Because the video is already getting a constant stream of viewers, you get a constant stream of interested people. After the initial cost, it is free traffic.
There are training programs which go into a lot of detail about these methods and show the best ways to make money online. It is very helpful, even essential that those just starting out sign up to a training program to give a grounding on the basic things which need to be done and avoid the mistakes most of us made when starting out.
Another great way of getting free traffic is to create a Squidoo lens, with great content about the product or niche you are promoting. If you place your link at strategic points, interested people will click through to your website or product.
If you have programming experience, it is possible to create a face book application and monetise it. If you have a fantastic idea but no programming knowledge, there are people on the net who will program it for you.
