God's Support Wins Your Daily Battles

A couple of days back I posted on our Facebook page- 'Even the backing of thousands of people can't make you win the battles of your life. But with God on your side, you are sure to win all battles of your life', and the very same day God made me experience His backing, yet again.

About ten days before this experience it so happened that my husband was getting our daughter back from the school and school hours as we know are rush hours. He crossed the traffic signal which had then turned green and since there was lot of traffic on the road the car was slow. Suddenly from the left a bike in hurry tried to overtake the car, our car hit the bike and the bike guy went out of balance and fell down. Immediately my husband got out of the car to help the bike guy and as soon as he asked him if he could help, the bike guy started shouting and abusing. My husband tried to calm him down and checked that his fore finger had got scratched, but because the bike was fine and the guy was not getting out of the shouting mode (he wanted to gain people's attention and sympathy), my husband told him that our home was very near, he would drop our daughter and come back as apart from his finger, he was fine. He also made the bike guy take a snap of our car registration number plate; unless he thought that my husband had wrong intentions.

As soon as our daughter got down from the car at home, my husband got back to the place, he found no one there. After exactly ten days a cop came looking for the owner of the car to our home, and asked us to come to the Police Station. I and my husband went to the Police Station, the bike guy was present with two of his friends and there was another cop in the room. The bike guy started to narrate his part of the story in a very loud tone, so I intervened and asked him to not get excited and speak calmly. He blamed us for causing physical hurt at various places and damage to him and asked for a compensation of Rs. Ten thousand. Ultimately, when we were asked to speak, we realised that the police guys had already proclaimed us as offenders and wanted only compensation. We asked the ASI (Asst. Sub-inspector) who had visited our home and also was looking into the matter that we would like to register a complaint against this guy for coming from the wrong side and causing damage to our car, to which the ASI refused. He said that it was too late to register a complaint (while later the Asst. Commissioner of Police-Traffic told us that the complaint can be registered anytime). Realising their intentions, I told the ASI to go forward with the complaint and take necessary action, so he threatened us that he would impound our car immediately.

I realized by then that these were mere threats and there was more to all this. I called my husband outside the office and we decided to meet the Station House Officer (SHO), who by God's grace at that time was sitting in his office. We went to him and explained him the whole scenario, he called the ASI and the bike guy and pulled up the ASI for misbehaviour. After a few questions the SHO understood that the bike guy was blowing up the whole thing, but still asked us to just sit with him and wind it up. We again asked the bike guy, what was the exact damage he suffered, as in front of the SHO he had confessed that the bike had minor scratches; as for medical treatment we were told by the ASI earlier, that he had got the guy treated at a Government Dispensary for which he had the medical report, so no money was spent there also. So for what he wanted to be compensated? He then came up with a new story that his shoes got completely damaged and so also his phone. We told him you get your stuff and we'll get it repaired.

I was not at all convinced in my heart that this guy deserved to be compensated for anything because of his blatant lies but I kept praying and asking God for help. We went back to the ASI to give a written statement that we would have his stuff repaired. Suddenly it struck me and I asked the ASI that before we sign anything or give any statement we would like to have a look at the copy of the original complaint made by this guy and also the medical report, as stated by all of them. He immediately lost his cool and started shouting and started fumbling through his papers, snatched the statement paper from us and started shouting at us to go away. We coolly walked out of his office and told the SHO before leaving what had happened. We also met the Assistant Commissioner of Police Traffic later and we didn't have to convince him that we were on the right. Talking to us he already believed so and wanted us to file a complaint against the ASI for his behaviour, which if we had gone ahead, he might have been suspended from his job.

Now why have I shared this real life incident with you? There are some very important points I want to make here:

  1. When the cop came to our home, first thing I told God, you have been a witness to what had happened and I believe I am already a victor. We'll not falsely pay anyone a single penny, and I believe You'll take care of this. As extracting money is usually the motive in such cases. (In any situation first run to God and not the phone calling friends).

  2. I prayed to God that if anyone tells lies please let me not get angry because anger means you're not feeling safe and if you are not feeling safe, you are not trusting God. Also in anger, you lose hold of the situation and in balance, the situation remains under your control. I am Your showcase in this world and I cannot do it without You, please help me win this battle. Ultimately, I was the balanced headed person in the crowd J (Humble yourself in front of God in every situation and daily, that you cannot do anything without Him but you are everything with Him).

  3. I kept repeating - thank you God for your favour. (Expect God to favour you and therefore start thanking Him in advance, this increases your faith)

  4. In the evening before we were to go to the police station I was watching Joel Osteen's video and I saw him praying. In his prayer the line - you are a victor not a victim, kept hammering in my head. So when in police station, I kept repeating-thank you God for making us victors and not victims. (Know that you and God are a majority and in any situation no matter if you've been made be a victim, you'll come out victorious. I recently read on a friend's page on Facebook - If you kneel down in front of Guru Sahib (God) He stands up for you and when He stands up for you, no one can stand against you-Awesome!).

  5. God kept giving me inputs to analyse the situation and that is why I caught the police guy and the bike guy on the wrong foot, when we realised that it was only a verbal complaint and not a formal one. (This is a lesson that I want to share with the readers that a verbal complaint in the Police Station is not a complaint and it has to be given in writing. If the complaint is given in writing it will also have to be registered in the Police Diary for the day, but in this case there was no record of it.)

  6. We didn't need a lawyer to tell us our fundamental rights (not that it is a sin to have one with you). That is why it is so essential to make God your mentor for He is the One who knows your situation minutely and only He can catch the wrong people on the wrong foot. (I recently read a beautiful line on Facebook which said that God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called and my last point says so)

So I encourage you once again that-'Even the backing of thousands of people can't make you win the battles of your life. But with God on your side, you are sure to win all battles of your life'-God Bless-
