What are the best work from home jobs? Well, that depends on what constitutes a job for you, and what skills you can bring to the table. Here is a list of three categories of work at home jobs that I consider to be the best in terms of pay and legitimacy:

Freelancing

The most common true "jobs" to be found online are freelance gigs where you provide a service to a buyer for a specific rate that you negotiate. Sites like e-lancer.com and odesk.com are common places to find freelance work.

The downside to freelancing is that you must have a skill set that lends itself to freelance work. You must be able to demonstrate your skills in a measurable way and you must constantly "sell" yourself to your potential clients as you are always on the lookout for the next job.

Here is a partial list of common freelancer skill sets:

-web design

-SEO

-accounting

-data entry

-article writing

-application data testing

-transcription work

Telecommuting Jobs

Telecommuting jobs are the rarest of the rare, but they are out there. Typically, you won't find these jobs advertised anywhere. You might obtain a telecommuting assignment by knowing someone in a company that is hiring for a telecommutable job or you can apply at the few companies that hire telecommuting workers. You can find lists of companies that hire telecommuters by doing a simple Google search. Telecommuting jobs often require the same sort of skill sets that freelance work requires.

Completing Offers for Others

This job is the easiest to find and requires no special skill set. If you have a computer and an internet connection, you can do this job. It can be found by visiting various freebie trading forums on the internet and viewing the posts in the sections of these forums entitled Paying for Referrals or Cash for Referrals. You are paid for signing up at a website under someone and completing offers for them. How much you are paid depends on the site and how many offers will be necessary to "complete" the site. Typical rates are anywhere from $20 to $100 per site.

The downside to this "job" is that it does require a small bit of money, as much as $10 to start. As such, it is not a true "job" but the first stage of a business opportunity called freebie trading or incentive marketing.
