The Internet is growing with a rapid speed. Almost more than a decade ago, it was a revolutionary invention which was supposed to kick all gears for the corporate world, and now, it has become a staggering part of our routine lives. However, commercialization of the Internet is weakening the promise of the Internet.

A student would rather take this "commercialization" as a positive step towards globalization. Apart from violation of privacy and terms, it has also borne witness to a new wave of data transfer and information availing services. Wikipedia, Google, and eBay are just a few to name who provide a complete package: from Articles to Search Engines; Social Networking to Online Shopping. Things are just so easy to access when you have the internet at your disposal. And with the modernization of technologies, it has been made available for almost everyone, everywhere. Global Positioning Systems(GPS) also are at the helm of the Internet Availability.

On the contrary, the usage of Internet as a vehicle for profit is a negative verdict. As we all know, the internet is overloaded with trillions and trillions of data. However, when that data is used as just a money making machine, it brings out the worst impacts ever to be recorded. These include cyber crimes like the illegal extraction of data to suit the likes of money making organizations. This certainly remains to-date a taunt in the face of all users, as privacy is not at all being nurtured.

This exchange or selling of information, or commercialization, is against the people's fundamental rights of privacy. The most publicized example: Facebook. We all know what social networking sites are, and we generally have accounts on at least one of these. The most hyped social networking site these days is Facebook. Just for the sake of the infamous "socializing" we leave our profiles and personal information, including pictures (tons of these), work information, contact numbers and more, vulnerable to the mercy of these giants of database networkers; and they, as part of their business, use it to strengthen their base in the mud of the internet world.

This act of sneaking and bamboozling in our personal information and then baffling us by wrongly assuring us that our information is safe is a crime, and it must be stopped. Regulation of information which then is leaked through these social networking sites also trigger criminal and terrorist activities, such as kidnappings.

With the advent of new features and promos, the information is more exposed to the open world of cyber tracking. Therefore, the companies should be charged for any exchange of these kinds of information, via the internet, as they are liable to it. Commercialization of the Internet leads to control of information which as a result proves to be a hurdle to them who use the medium to improve society and themselves.
